The Blooming Lovely Flower Table
The Blooming Lovely Flower Table
The Blooming Lovely Flower Table is a beautiful curved table inspired by flowers. For this piece I wanted to design something truly organic. I was drawn to the shape of the fuschia and the gentle curves of long grass, so used those natural lines to create the curves of this table. I steam bent and laminated sycamore and walnut to create the 'petals' with a dash of ripe red splitting the turned tiger oak 'stamen' this piece is elegant, organic and blooming lovely!

Jewellery Box
This box was created for a Very Special Client for an important (but publicly unspecified) birthday. Its made from sycamore with a book-matched walnut burr veneer top and base.
The sliding inside boxes are made from unfinished cedar of Lebanon so every time she opens the box she will get a gentle waft of natural perfume.
The base and boxes are upholstered in padded blue velvet and there's a personal lazer engraved message for the V.S.C on the inside boxes.

Latest Stack
Firstly please visit my new website at - www.radiancefurniture.co.uk - its fairly simple at the moment but will be developed as time goes on.
This latest stack is all in sycamore as per the specifications of the client. I think it works very well and looks light and bright. The grain on the drawer fronts is particularly decorative but the whole thing has lovely grain figuring.
The drawers are still English olive ash with unfinished cedar of Lebanon bases and I've used walnut dowels for the decorative effect.
This is a different combination of woods as a demonstration of possible combinations. Sycamore, elm and oak.
Bathroom cabinet
Here's a lovely simple English oak bathroom cabinet with a dovetail construction. A simple, functional design using beautiful wood and decorative traditional dovetails makes the piece an elegant, robust and bloody gorgeous cabinet.
The shaped solid English oak shelf was also made by me and the two were designed to go together.
The most decorative burrs were placed by the bottom 'bathside' corner so they can be seen as someone is languishing in the hot bubble bath.
I decided handles weren't necessary as a recessed bottom on the doors would keep the flow of the grain and were at the perfect height for opening.

Walnut and yew bureau.
This is my american black walnut and english yew bureau. The design is a modern take on a classic theme - it is suitable for a computer with screen, keyboard etc in the top part and tower below in the cupboard. Turned solid walnut holes allow cables to pass through from the inside work surface to the tower cupboard and behind to be plugged in.
After you finish working you can simply close the elliptical yew paneled fall and you are left with a beautiful piece of handmade solid wood furniture. The rich colours, dramatic figuring and the exquisite (even if I do say so myself!) craftsmanship make this piece a joy to look at and use.
Seen here at the 'Furnish2' exhibition at Paintworks, Bristol.
All the drawers have traditional dovetails front and back. With quarter sawn english oak linings and walnut slips.
Solid yew turned cable tidy disc thing.

'Stack'
This design is a solid hardwood modular system of individual drawer boxes made from different hardwoods called 'Stack'. The beauty of the design is that they are all interchangable and can be arranged facing any direction or off centered as long as the overall structure is balanced, and it will remain solid and fixed in place without any fittings. There is a vast scope for personal preference and arrangements and each box is a thing of beauty and functionality in itself. The feet attach to the bottom of any drawer box. I've used decorative yet modern construction methods, cedar of Lebanon drawer bases for the gorgeous aroma and the eight different European woods are ethically sourced from reputable timber suppliers.
The top drawer box is made from spalted English walnut, the one below from European elm and below that from English sycamore. The two bottom boxes are made from English cherry and oak. They have yew handles and a yew bowl is part of the design and fixes into place on the top of any box.
I've used oversize dovetails reinforced with walnut stepped dowels for a decorative and functional drawer design. The drawer sides are made from English olive ash with unfinished cedar of Lebanon bases for the beautiful aroma.
